被誉为 “互联网陶艺教学之父” 的美籍华裔陶艺家林新春(Hsinchuen Lin),以 40 年创作积淀为基,以东西方文化交融为魂,用 950 部教学视频启迪 1500 万全球受众。他生于中国台湾、深造于美国,将东方传统陶艺的内敛质感与西方当代创新技法无缝衔接,而此次景德镇创作聚焦的绞胎纹、chattering、硅酸钠肌理等表面处理技法,更彰显了他对陶瓷工艺细节的极致探索与传承初心。
Hsinchuen Lin, a Chinese-American ceramic artist hailed as the "Father of Internet Ceramic Art Teaching," has built his foundation on 40 years of creative accumulation and shaped his soul with the integration of Eastern and Western cultures. Through 950 teaching videos, he has inspired 15 million global audiences. Born in Taiwan, China, and further educated in the United States, he seamlessly bridges the restrained texture of traditional Eastern ceramic art with the innovative techniques of contemporary Western ceramics. His latest creative focus in Jingdezhen—on surface treatment techniques such as twisted clay patterns, chattering, and sodium silicate textures—further demonstrates his meticulous exploration of ceramic craft details and his original aspiration for inheritance.

三宝蓬美术馆:你擅长创作哪些类型的作品?有没有特定的主题或风格?
What types of works do you specialize in creating? Do you have any specific themes or styles?
林新春:我主要会专注于表面效果处理,比如抖纹效果、水玻璃肌理和滚轴肌理。
Mostly i will focus on surface enhancement such as chattering, sodium silicate texture and roller texture.

三宝蓬美术馆:日常在教学经历中,是如何引导学生构思作品的创作?简单阐述下教学中作品的设计与教学创作过程?
How do you guide students to conceive their artwork creation in daily teaching experience? Please briefly elaborate on the artwork design and the teaching & creation process in teaching.
林新春:设计过程:我在设计阶段的角色是引导者,帮助学生将初步想法转化为实用造型。我会提供陶艺基础原理的知识,比如平衡感、比例关系以及不同陶土的特性。而学生们会带来各自的创意概念、灵感来源和个人审美取向。这种合作模式能确保设计不仅是技术练习,更是学生创意愿景的有意义表达。我们会一起草图构思、优化造型,并确定釉色或肌理等表面处理方式,让每件作品都成为一段共同的艺术旅程。
创作过程:在创作阶段,合作会转向实操互动。学生创作时,我会提供实时反馈和协助。这种共同体验能营造支持性的学习环境,让失误被视为成长的契机。我的专业经验能确保学生掌握制作质地坚实、造型规整作品的正确技法,而他们的直接参与则能让作品体现出独特的手工痕迹和创意选择。最终,这些成品陶艺作品将成为这段联合协作的见证。
Design Process: My role in the design phase is to be a guide, helping students translate their initial ideas into functional forms. I'll provide foundational knowledge on pottery principles, such as balance, proportion, and the properties of different clay bodies. The students, in turn, will bring their individual concepts, inspirations, and personal aesthetics. This collaborative approach ensures the designs aren't just technical exercises but also meaningful expressions of the students' visions. We'll work together to sketch ideas, refine shapes, and decide on surface treatments like glazes or textures, making each piece a shared artistic journey.
Creation Process: During the creation process, the collaboration shifts to a hands-on dynamic. I will provide real-time feedback and assistance as they work. This shared experience creates a supportive learning environment where mistakes are seen as opportunities for growth. My expertise ensures the students learn proper techniques for creating durable, well-formed pieces, while their direct involvement ensures the pieces reflect their unique hand and creative choices. Ultimately, the finished pottery is a testament to this joint.

As the core of Chinese ceramic culture, Jingdezhen boasts high-quality ceramic raw materials and profound craft accumulation, providing the optimal practical ground for his surface treatment techniques. This allows techniques such as sodium silicate textures and twisted clay patterns to show purer effects on local materials.
Jingdezhen’s traditional craft atmosphere enables him to trace the essence of Eastern ceramic art more intuitively. Integrating Jingdezhen’s handcrafted ceramic spirit with his own concept of Eastern-Western integration, he ensures that the surface treatment techniques retain handcrafted warmth while embodying contemporary aesthetics.
This creation is also an "extension of teaching." His craft exploration in the sacred land of ceramics will be transformed into more convincing teaching content, demonstrating the innovative possibilities of traditional ceramic crafts in the contemporary era to global audiences and further expanding the influence of ceramic art education.
Lin Hsinchuen’s creation and inheritance constitute a cross-regional and cross-temporal practice of ceramic art. With 40 years of dedication, he has delved into craftsmanship; with Eastern-Western integration, he has broadened aesthetic boundaries; and with 950 teaching videos, he has popularized ceramic culture. He has become a key link connecting tradition and contemporary, East and West, professionalism and the public. His latest focus on surface treatment techniques in Jingdezhen is not only a pursuit of ultimate craft details but also another practice of ceramic art inheritance. Through his works, he proves that the vitality of ceramic art lies in the refinement of craftsmanship and the dissemination of culture—and he himself is the best spokesperson for this inheritance and innovation.
