陈持平教授以中国古诗词为绘画与书画题材，结合图画与诗词的联想创作，不仅表现出东方与西方的绘画结合，让观赏者了解绘画与书画不再是局限于传统框架中，并非一定要用正确的道具与媒材来进行创作。

Drawing from motifs embedded within Chinese poetry and calligraphy, Dr. Chih-Ping Chen created a collaboration of paintings and poems encompassing the East and the West, allowing the viewers to understand that the process of art production is without bounds, as there is no single correct way of creating art.

陈持平于1953年出生于新竹市，系医学教授，其本业是妇产科医师，为知名医学家及产前细胞遗传学诊断学者，在产前诊断镶嵌型染色体异常有重大发现，因而拯救许多无辜胎儿，因此在2019年曾经获得医疗奉献奖。日前喜事再添一桩，入选美国史丹福大学公布科学家及全球前十万名科学家名单。

Dr. Chih-Ping Chen was born in 1953 in Hsin-Chu, Taiwan. Professor Chen is an obstetrician/gynecologist, a renowned physician scientist, prenatal diagnosis and genetics specialist, with major contributions in prenatal diagnosis focusing on mosaic embryos, saving numerous innocent lives. In 2019, Prof. Chen received the prestigious Lifetime Medical Contribution Award for his unwavering ethic and human rights advocation. Most recently, we are excited to announce that Prof. Chen has been named one of the top 2 percent of the most-cited scientists worldwide by Stanford University.

陈持平祖父陈开泉为上海美专国画组毕业的艺术家，系刘海粟的得意门生，陈持平父亲陈祖儒是一位书法家。从小喜欢看父亲用毛笔书写文章，快乐无比，当时的父亲希望陈持平能继承自己父亲陈开泉的艺术家道路，但年轻的陈持平却走向相反的道路，从医救济。多年后的现代，因缘际会下拿起画笔，想起已故的父亲的话语与父亲亲笔写下的书法匾额，将西方的绘画与中国的书法融合在一起，一同实现当时父亲的愿望与自己喜爱的父亲书法。

Prof. Chen’s paternal grandfather Chen Kai-Chung was an artist specializing in Chinese calligraphy and painting in Shanghai, and has studied under the famous artist Liu Hai-Li. Prof. Chen’s father Chen Tzu-Ru was a calligraphist. As a young boy, Prof. Chen has often had the pleasure of watching his father calligraph. At the time, Father Chen wished for his son to carry on the family heritage and tradition of calligraphy and art. Nevertheless, Prof. Chen followed his heart’s passion and pursued medicine instead. Years later, Prof. Chen picked up the paintbrush and as he pondered on the family legacy, he marvelously integrated acrylic of the west and calligraphy of the east, realizing his father’s dream and internalizing the joy his father’s calligraphy brought him forever in his own art production.

陈持平是一位医师艺术家，"艺术ly"是陈持平的艺术创作理念。陈持平认为绘画创作和绘画欣赏皆具有身心ly的作用。一则借着绘画创作，，彻底发泄个人的情感、欲望、痛苦与快乐。再者借着绘画欣赏，把自己融入别人的情感及心境，相互感应一番。就是安定人心的力量！而绘画书法艺术的另一个特色则是弘扬中华文化，不遗余力，以实际行动，古诗今画，把中国家喻户晓的古诗古词，经过无限创意，蜕变成现代艺术作品，而且不断推陈出新，变化多端，引入入境，雅俗共赏。

Prof. Chen is a physician artist, and paints with the aim of art therapy. Chih-Ping Chen thinks that art production and art appraisal both function to soothe the human mind. Through creating art, the artist’s mind is liberated and so are his emotions, desires, melancholy, and joy. At the same time, through art appraisal, one steps into another’s shoes; the appraiser feels what the artist feels, and they are in harmony! Prof. Chen wishes to share the wonders of Chinese calligraphy and painting with all through his art. He is committed to take words and poems and transform them into metamorphic, narrative, and modern artworks captivating the attention of all.
